ON THE SIDE…
A self-admitted mid-century/space-age junkie, Mitchell is afflicted with a terminal case of, “oh, I could build that…” He’s also a connoisseur of Italian motorcycles and German cars (because everybody needs an extra expensive hobby).
The images below are a small sampling of “things that Mitch made,” usually in the most time-consuming and elaborate manner possible!

The kitchen "nook" of our former Vegas MCM home. Custom shelving with inset Rakks standards and mahogany-laminated plywood shelf boards.

Silver bubble mirrors purchased from Ikea children's department many years ago, mounted to flat orange acrylic mirrors.
Modular synth combo 5U and Eurorack cabinet (top Eurorack action not yet built here). Sides and keyboard end cheeks made from walnut-laminated plywood with walnut edge banding, “center” cab sections made from black textured melamine board.

Bathroom cab at former Vegas home. Ikea kitchen frame/shelves plus custom walnut-laminated plywood doors.

Back “doggie deck” stairs with prefab metal risers and 2x6 stair treads at our Connecticut home. All very heavy. So many bug bites!

Kitchen of our former Vegas MCM home. Gutted to the walls, Semihandmade doors on Ikea cabs, custom-built island with integrated sink.

Custom shelf unit at our Connecticut home. Solid walnut supports with “backwards” recessed standards and brackets, white melamine shelves with walnut edge banding. Inspired by vintage George Nelson "Omni" shelving system (and built for a fraction of the cost).
Self-powered full-range speakers constructed from ABS plumbing pipe.
DIY credenza, inspired by Koenig Case Study House #21. Laminated mahogany, white melamine top. Sliding doors made from pressboard dry-erase board panel.
